What the data reveals about the most-demanded requirements
Only two requirements clear double digits: sales experience at 25% and communication skills at 16.07%. Customer relationship management (10.71%) and customer service skills (9.82%) round out the next tier, but everything after that, from B2B sales experience to CRM software proficiency, sits at or below 7%. That spread means there's no single credential that unlocks most postings. Instead, employers are drawing from a menu of related but distinct requirements: general sales background, relationship management skills, and specific sales contexts like field sales, inside sales, or SDR experience.
Gaps that are easy to fix vs gaps that aren't
If you've done any kind of client-facing or sales work but your CV just says 'assisted customers' or 'handled accounts,' that's a presentation gap: the experience may already satisfy what 25% of ads ask for, it's just not labeled clearly. The same goes for communication skills (16.07%) and customer service skills (9.82%), which are often demonstrated through past roles but never stated outright. Harder to fix are the structural gaps: a valid driver's license (7.14%), specific experience like B2B or door-to-door sales (6.25% and 3.57%), or immigration sponsorship restrictions (3.57%), since these are pass/fail requirements you either meet or you don't.
How to stand out for this role
Since sales experience and communication skills cover the most ground, make sure both are explicit and specific on your CV rather than implied. Naming a CRM tool by name matters more than it might seem: only 5.36% of ads mention CRM software proficiency directly, so candidates who name their platform (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.) stand out against those who just say 'used CRM systems.' If you have any experience in a named sales format (B2B, field, inside sales, SDR), call it out directly rather than folding it into a generic 'sales' label, since these terms each appear in a meaningful minority of ads and can be the differentiator between similar candidates.
